Are you a woman or non-bina­ry inter­sec­tion­al fem­i­nist with pre­vi­ous expe­ri­ence sup­port­ing gov­er­nance of a non-prof­it? Do you love strate­gic think­ing, man­ag­ing finan­cial reports, dri­ving com­mu­ni­ty fundrais­ing, and sup­port­ing sur­vivor-led ser­vices and advocacy?

We at SACHA want to build a stronger col­lec­tive that tru­ly rep­re­sents our com­mu­ni­ties. End­ing sex­u­al vio­lence is tough and chal­leng­ing, but being part of SACHA is a way to break our iso­la­tion and find joy­ful­ness doing the work togeth­er. Becom­ing a SACHA Board Mem­ber is a way to give back to the cause through the frame­works of how this orga­ni­za­tion runs. 

We would like to encour­age and empow­er women and non-bina­ry per­sons who are Indige­nous, Black, racial­ized, immi­grant, refugee, two-spir­it, trans, queer, work­ing class, dis­abled, or expe­ri­enc­ing oth­er forms of oppres­sion to apply. Your expe­ri­ence and voice mat­ters when we are work­ing towards end­ing oppres­sion in the Hamil­ton com­mu­ni­ty and beyond!

• Inclu­sive — we want to empow­er and ampli­fy mar­gin­al­ized voic­es and per­spec­tives in our governance. 
• Equi­table — we strive to adopt con­sen­sus meth­ods that remove bar­ri­ers of equal­i­ty and shared pow­er in the board room. 
• We Believe Sur­vivors — we hold an under­stand­ing that in order to end all sex­u­al vio­lence, we must end all forms of oppres­sion with­in our community. 
• Embod­i­ment over Per­for­mance — we are com­mit­ted to SACHA’s vision and mis­sion in the form of action and strat­e­gy not just words. 

WHO ARE YOU??

• Board Mem­ber at Heart - Expe­ri­ence or inter­est in lead­er­ship, strate­gic plan­ning, non­prof­it finan­cials, com­mu­ni­ty engage­ment, fundrais­ing, gov­er­nance and/​or policy.
• Joy as Resis­tance — A sense of humour and enjoy­ment of potlucks and dance par­ties (some of SACHA’s favourite pastimes)! 
• Active Hamil­ton­ian — Strong com­mu­ni­ty involve­ment or aware­ness, active­ly dis­man­tling the patri­archy in your own life.

BOARD CUR­RENT NEEDS: 

• Expe­ri­ence with bud­gets, fundrais­ing, and/​or a busi­ness background. 
• Legal exper­tise, par­tic­u­lar­ly in the not-for-prof­it sector. 
• Lead­er­ship expe­ri­ence in the not-for-prof­it sector.
• Expe­ri­ence with grass­roots and com­mu­ni­ty-based organizing. 
• Unique, diverse lived per­spec­tives that can help SACHA grow and learn.
