We used to think about workplace health and safety in terms of injury prevention on the job: hard hats, safety boots, correct operation of machines, proper handling of chemicals (WHMIS)

Now employers are required to include harassment and violence in their OHSA policies and procedures.
3. New training approaches are required.

The Bill 168 policy is posted and the training has been done. Now what?

Previous OHSA training initiatives were specific and clearly outlined: when you do (blank), you must protect yourself and your coworkers by (blank). The focus was on the policy because it told workers what to do.

Responding to harassment and intimate partner violence requires a different approach and a new set of skills (empathy, listening, taking direction from vs giving advice)
